Engagement and impact in addressing and overcoming educational disadvantage

Publication Summary

This chapter presents a summary of indicators of real-life impact from research by the Durham University Evidence Centre for Education (DECE) looking at policies which affect disadvantaged children in England, in particular the Pupil Premium in England. The research itself looks at how disadvantage is best assessed, how disadvantaged pupils are clustered in specific schools, and which programmes and reforms are most promising to deal with the problem of lower average attainment among disadvantaged pupils. The chapter considers how and whether this research has made a difference to policy or practice.
