Large deformations of tapered beam with finite integration method

Publication Summary

Abstract The nonlinear large deformation analysis for a tapered cantilever beam subjected to a concentrated force and a bending moment at free end is presented using the finite integration method (FIM) in this paper. The bending stiffness of the beam is assumed to be a function of natural coordinate. The nonlinear ordinary differential equation is numerically solved with the iterative technique. The numerical examples demonstrate that FIM is of high accuracy and excellent convergence.
