Shames Maskeen is a Lecturer in Developmental Psychology and Associate Director of the Race Institute at Leeds Trinity University. He Co-Chairs the Black, Asian and Minoritised Ethnicities student network at Go Higher West Yorkshire and is an Associate for the Race Equality Charter at Advance HE. His research focusses on solving racial inequities experienced by racialised minorities in Higher Education and beyond. His research interests are focussed on widening participation and investigating the intersection of race/ethnicity, culture, religion, and gender on the lived experiences of racialised minorities. He is passionate about anti-racism leadership and more importantly in taking action to make a real difference and equitable world for young people.

Fun fact about Shames

Whilst born in Leeds, Shames lived in Pakistan for one year and a half at the tender age of five for reasons unknown.
