FMS are the motor skills which underpin participation in physical activity. This includes: running, jumping, hopping, throwing, kicking, and balance.

Research has found that FMS have an impact upon health (both physical and mental) as well as academic performance.

FUNMOVES is an evidence-based FMS screening tool which was co-produced with schools to enable teachers to assess the FMS of their whole class within an hour.

Currently ongoing!

  • You will receive reports for each child detailing ability levels.
  • You will be contributing to the creation of a Bradford dataset.
  • 1 hour training with all teaching staff.
  • Years 1-6 completing FUNMOVES (2 staff members per class).
  • A researcher observing testing.
  • Completing complimentary FMS activities in and out of school.
  • Classes completing the assessment twice, one term apart.
  • The opportunity for staff and parents to have their say on FMS and the FUNMOVES process.
